In a recent development involving Ryan Reynolds and Justin Baldoni, an insider has clarified that Reynolds was indeed “angry” during an at-home meeting but did not “aggressively berate” Baldoni. This comes in the wake of Baldoni’s $250 million libel lawsuit against the New York Times, where he accused Reynolds of reprimanding him for allegedly “fat-shaming” Blake Lively during the filming of “It Ends With Us.”
According to a source who spoke to TMZ, the “Deadpool” star was characterized as “angry and stern” during the January 2024 encounter. However, the insider emphasized that there was no yelling involved. Baldoni contends that the meeting was a traumatic experience, claiming he felt blindsided when he was confronted about his behavior toward Lively, who filed various complaints against him.
In his lawsuit, Baldoni claims that Reynolds scolded him regarding comments he made about Lively’s postpartum weight during filming, along with other inappropriate remarks. The source, however, stated that those present were aware that Baldoni’s conduct would be discussed and dismissed Baldoni’s assertion that he was unaware of the meeting’s purpose.
Compounding the situation, Baldoni stated he felt further humiliated as Reynolds and Lively’s celebrity friends were reportedly in and out of their New York City penthouse during the conversation. Baldoni is one of ten plaintiffs suing the Times for a December report that detailed Lively’s allegations of sexual harassment and retaliation against him.
The Times has since stood by their reporting, asserting it was thoroughly investigated and promising to defend it vigorously. On the other side of the equation, Lively has initiated her legal actions against Baldoni and his production company, Wayfarer Studios, citing sexual harassment and emotional distress among the numerous allegations. Baldoni’s attorney has denied these claims.
As the legal battles unfold, the tension between these Hollywood figures continues to grow, with the public observing how the outcomes might affect their careers and reputations.
