Retro Rock Reviews: Episode 7 – The Police – ‘Synchronicity’ (1983)
Posted on September 19, 2024
It’s interesting how life’s twists can lead to unexpected journeys through music. For me, that journey began with The Police’s final studio album, ‘Synchronicity.’ Although I heard their hits like “Don’t Stand So Close To Me” and “Every Little Thing She Does is Magic” frequently on MTV, it wasn’t until “Synchronicity II” that I truly felt compelled to purchase a record. In 1983, I bought the ‘Synchronicity’ cassette, and later on, I completed my collection with a box set encompassing all their albums.
The Police stood out as a unique force in the pop rock scene. Their lyrics were something special—far from the superficial pop often dominating the airwaves. They encouraged deeper thought and reflection, elevating music to a level of intelligence I hadn’t encountered before. Join me as I delve into the essence of this remarkable album that marked the end of a legendary era for the band.

2loud2oldmusic: Appreciate it! The box set is fantastic but definitely requires time to enjoy each album. Multiple versions exist mainly for sales, encouraging enthusiasts to collect them all.
