Megan Thee Stallion is uncertain about the possibility of reconciling with Nicki Minaj, as she still doesn’t understand the root of their feud.
During a recent interview on the “Pivot Podcast,” Megan, who has been at odds with Minaj, revealed, “I still don’t know what the issue is. I have no idea what caused the conflict or what might be reconciled.”
The rapper, known for her hit “Savage,” mentioned that her 3-year-old daughter, Ellie, has taken a liking to the Nicki Minaj track “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” which has become a frequent tune in their household. Ellie, in particular, has been enjoying a line from the song, though she adjusts the lyrics to her age, saying, “I’m a real tough kid I can handle my stuff!”
Jason Kelce, Megan’s brother, noted on the podcast that this song plays daily in their home, highlighting its significant impact on their family’s playlist.
The feud between Megan and Minaj took a public turn earlier this year when Megan’s single “Hiss” was released, which seemed to target Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty. Megan’s lyrics referenced legal issues related to sex offenders, which some interpreted as a jab at Petty.
When asked if the release of “Hiss” sparked the competitive tension in the rap world, Megan responded, “I’d like to think that I start things. I knew what I needed to say, and if it opened doors for others to express themselves, then I’m glad.”
Following “Hiss,” Minaj responded with “Big Foot,” in which she took aim at Megan’s honesty about cosmetic surgery and referenced Megan’s late mother. The song also included pointed remarks about Megan’s experience with Tory Lanez, who was involved in a shooting incident with her.
The tension between the two rappers escalated to the point where security had to be increased at Megan’s mother’s gravesite in Houston after the diss tracks were released.
The origins of the feud remain unclear, but some fans speculate it may have been exacerbated by Megan’s collaboration with Cardi B on the track “WAP,” which Minaj might have viewed unfavorably. Additionally, Minaj’s 2023 song “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” included a line that seemed to reference Megan, further fueling speculation about their rivalry.
