Jill Martin’s marriage has come to an end, Page Six has confirmed.
The “Today” lifestyle contributor and her husband of two years, financier Erik Brooks, have initiated divorce proceedings. According to Martin’s spokesperson, the couple filed for divorce at the beginning of August and are “nearly finished with the process.”
The spokesperson emphasized that “due to the involvement of families and the profound impact the past year has had on Jill, she intends for this to be her only public comment on the matter.”
Martin, who has not been seen wearing her wedding ring, and Brooks first connected on a dating app. Their relationship saw ups and downs, including a broken engagement in 2020 due to the pandemic’s strain on their long-distance relationship. They rekindled their engagement in late 2021 and married in 2022 at the New York Public Library, surrounded by 200 guests.
However, less than a year after their wedding, Martin faced a significant health challenge when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, just three months before their first anniversary. She has been open about her journey, which included a double mastectomy and chemotherapy.
Despite the personal turmoil, Martin is focusing on her health and personal life. She is now cancer-free, having completed all necessary surgeries and will continue with medication for seven to ten years. Martin will return to co-hosting the third hour of “Today” this Thursday and Friday and plans to start Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a major announcement on October 1.
Her spokesperson stated that Martin is dedicated to helping others and is looking forward to new beginnings, including the launch of a new company this month.
