In a candid discussion, Ashley Darby, a prominent figure from the “Real Housewives of Potomac,” opens up about her struggle with depression amid her ongoing divorce from estranged husband Michael Darby. Speaking exclusively on Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea,” the 36-year-old reality star reveals the emotional turmoil she has faced during this challenging time.
“It’s tough out here,” Ashley admits, reflecting on the difficulty of navigating her separation. “I wish I could provide a timeline for this divorce, but it’s deeply emotional for me. It’s like experiencing a loss.”
Ashley first made her split from Michael public in April 2022, indicating that they would be ending their marriage after eight years together. However, it wasn’t until June of this year that the divorce papers were finally signed. “As much as I wanted to present myself as strong and unaffected, it was deeply painful,” she shares, discussing the impact the separation had on her mental health.
Recently, Ashley disclosed that she has taken significant steps towards finalizing her divorce, which has contributed to an overall improvement in her well-being. “I feel like I’m in a much better space now,” she states, hinting at a breakthrough she experienced just this month. “I had a moment of reflection, shed a few tears, but overall, I’m feeling good.”
To cope with her feelings of sadness, Ashley turned to therapy and leaned on her close friends for support. She spoke highly of her friend Cory, who has a knack for sensing when she’s feeling down. “Cory knows when I’m not myself. He encourages me to dress up, go out, and flirts a little—it really helps lift my spirits,” she said.
Throughout her single life, Ashley navigated a brief romance with “Summer House” star Luke Gulbranson but is now looking forward to finding love again. Earlier this year, she filmed a dating series alongside co-stars Gizelle Bryant, Shannon Beador, and Luann de Lesseps for Peacock, although the release date has yet to be announced.
“The Real Housewives of Potomac” continues to air Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo, with episodes available for streaming the following day on Peacock.
