Prince Harry Extends Kindness to LA Fire Victim During Visit with Meghan Markle
In a touching display of compassion, Prince Harry made a special effort to grant the wish of a fire victim in Los Angeles as he and Meghan Markle volunteered at the Pasadena Convention Center. The Duke of Sussex, donning a disguise of an N-95 mask and a hat, approached an elderly man who was confined to a bed, offering him a choice of sandwich, water, or snacks from a nearby cart.
Mayor Victor Gordo shared the heartwarming moment, recounting the man’s response: “What I’d really like is a donut.” Demonstrating his commitment to helping others, Harry quickly promised, “There’s no donut here, but I will find one.” True to his word, he disappeared for a mere ten minutes before returning with the requested treat. The elderly gentleman, unaware he was speaking to royalty, humorously remarked, “I guess I need my carbs and my sugar.”
Harry, 40, and Markle, 43, were at the convention center aiding those affected by recent wildfires in the area. As they distributed food and essentials, they expressed gratitude towards local fire and police departments and relief teams on the scene. Mayor Gordo praised the couple’s efforts, stating, “They really buoyed the spirits of the first responders,” and emphasizing their genuine care for the community during such trying times.
The royal couple has also been proactive in supporting others impacted by the fires. Residing in Montecito, roughly 90 miles from Los Angeles, their mansion thankfully escaped damage from the recent fires. However, they have opened their home to friends who were forced to evacuate. Harry and Meghan are additionally exploring ways to provide further assistance to wildfire victims through their Archewell Foundation.
As the community continues to grapple with the aftermath of the fires, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s efforts serve as a reminder of the power of kindness and the importance of helping those in need.
