Great style is truly a family affair. La La Anthony recently spoke with ET as she prepared to host the 14th Rookie Kids Fashion Show presented by Haddad Brands on September 26 in Los Angeles. During the chat, La La opened up about how her son, Kiyan, inspires her fashion sense. At just 18, Kiyan, whom she shares with ex-husband Carmelo Anthony, made his runway debut at the event back in 2015, and since then, the pair have been swapping style advice.
“We’ve maintained our bond through fashion. He keeps me updated on what’s current and stylish,” the 42-year-old television veteran shared. “The most important thing I tell him about fashion is to stay true to himself. It’s fine to chase trends, but ensure you genuinely love what you’re wearing. When you feel good in your outfit, it shows.”
La La has embraced this philosophy while curating her wardrobe over the years. “My style has developed alongside evolving trends. I don’t harbor many regrets, though I sometimes look back at old photos and think, ‘What was I wearing?’ because fashion is ever-changing,” the New York native remarked.
Currently, La La is opting for stylish yet comfy ensembles. Her go-to look for the fall includes “a really cool sneaker and nothing beats denim-on-denim. It’s a classic look that you can dress up or down.”
“I like to feel sexy, but at my core, I’m really a tomboy. Comfort is key for me,” she concluded.
