Kyle Richards has firmly dismissed Sutton Stracke’s assertion that she was trying to get romantically involved with Kevin Costner. Speaking to TMZ at LAX, Richards stated, “That is definitely not true. I think she was just joking.” While Richards confirmed that both she and Costner own properties in Aspen, Colorado, she emphasized that their interactions have been minimal, claiming they’ve met just twice and exchanged perhaps a minute of conversation.
Stracke, during a recent episode of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills After Show,” claimed that Richards was attempting to hook up with Costner during a trip to Aspen. “Kyle and I have this conversation, she was in Aspen and Kevin Costner was there. And she was, like, trying to hook up with Kevin Costner,” Stracke remarked in a conversation with fellow cast members Garcelle Beauvais and Jennifer Tilly.
As the three discussed Richards’ previous relationship with country singer Morgan Wade, Stracke suggested that Costner’s presence complicated matters. “I don’t think that Morgan’s the end all, be all because … there’s some Kevin Costner mixed in there,” Stracke added.
Richards, 55, later admitted to TMZ that while Costner, 69, is undeniably attractive, she reiterated that there is no romantic connection between them. This denial comes on the heels of heightened scrutiny around Richards’ personal life, particularly following her separation from husband Mauricio Umansky in July 2023 after 27 years of marriage.
Richards has also faced speculation surrounding her friendship with Wade, 29. Despite ongoing rumors, Richards has consistently labeled Wade as one of her closest friends, disavowing any romantic implications. In a prior appearance on “Watch What Happens Live,” she affirmed, “I am not dating Morgan,” although she noted that both she and Umansky are free to pursue other relationships.
As for Costner, he himself hasn’t entered a public relationship since his estranged wife Christine Baumgartner filed for divorce in May 2023. More recently, he was rumored to be linked to singer Jewel, but he clarified their relationship by saying, “Jewel and I are friends — we’ve never gone out.”
With both Richards and Costner traversing through their own personal transitions, the rumors serve as a reminder of the ever-watchful nature of public perception surrounding celebrity relationships.
