In a post to their Instagram Stories, the band expressed regret, stating, “We want to sincerely apologize to our fans for what transpired last night. As a consequence, we will be canceling our show scheduled for tomorrow night in Bridgeport. Refunds will be provided through your original point of purchase or through third-party vendors like StubHub and SeatGeek. Thank you for understanding.”
This unexpected turn of events took place at the Leader Bank Pavilion in Boston, where Perry, 65, could be seen passionately performing before abruptly colliding with Navarro, 57. Eyewitness accounts describe an exchange where Perry’s frustration boiled over, culminating in a punch aimed at Navarro, leading to their separation by crew members.
Complicating matters, Perry’s wife, Etty, later shared a video of the altercation, shedding light on the tension backstage. According to her, Perry had been on edge for several nights, feeling that the stage volume overshadowed his vocals and exacerbated his ongoing struggles with tinnitus and a sore throat. She revealed that audience complaints had added to his mounting stress, pushing him to a breaking point.
Etty, 49, also disclosed that an earlier confrontation occurred offstage, involving bassist Eric Avery, 59, putting Perry in a headlock and delivering several punches. The fallout from the incident left Perry distraught, as Etty described him as a “crazed beast” in the chaotic moments following the on-stage incident.
