David Schwimmer Gets Emotional Over “The Great British Bake Off”
In a heartfelt revelation, David Schwimmer opened up about his emotional connection to “The Great British Bake Off,” admitting that the show brings him to tears. In an exclusive chat, the actor expressed his admiration for contestant Nelly Ghaffar, a standout from the latest season. “She’s from Slovakia and has absolutely stolen my heart,” he shared.
Schwimmer, a prominent figure in the entertainment world, showcased his culinary skills during a celebrity edition of the series in 2023, where he raised funds for cancer awareness. His impressive tofu pie earned him the coveted handshake from judge Paul Hollywood, who remarked, “Honestly, I’ve never had tofu that I’ve enjoyed before. That is a fantastic pie.”
Currently, Schwimmer is making strides on television once again with a role in the limited anthology series “Goosebumps: The Vanishing.” In this spooky new series, he portrays Anthony Brewer, a former botany professor navigating life with his twins during a summer in Gravesend, Brooklyn. While he admits he never read the “Goosebumps” books to his daughter, Cleo, he recognized the franchise’s strong fan base and was thrilled to dive into the horror-action-comedy genre.
“I’ve always been a fan of this kind of storytelling, and the chance to finally work within this genre was too good to pass up,” he explained, noting that the show was filmed in his hometown of New York. “I was born in Queens, and we shot all over Queens and Brooklyn. It felt just like home.”
Adding a personal touch, Schwimmer connected with his character through their mutual love for plants. “I have this app on my phone where you can point your camera at any plant, and it tells you everything about it. I’m definitely that guy,” he laughed.
With his recent projects, Schwimmer is proving that he continues to engage audiences, whether it’s through playful baking or diving into spine-chilling tales on the small screen.
