Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland made headlines with a heartwarming Destiny’s Child reunion during Michelle Williams’ Broadway debut of “Death Becomes Her” at New York’s Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The two iconic singers showed their support for Williams, who plays the role of Viola Van Horn in the musical adaptation of the beloved 1992 film featuring Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn.
Beyoncé, 43, shared the joyous occasion on her Instagram account, posting a collection of photos and videos from backstage that captured the trio’s enduring bond. One notable image featured Beyoncé and Rowland embracing Williams, while another showcased Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, who also attended the event. The “Halo” singer set the mood with a video accompanied by her track “II Most Wanted,” featuring lyrics that reflect their deep connection: “I’ll be your shotgun rider till the day I die.”
In a touching response on Beyoncé’s post, Williams expressed her emotions, writing, “I try not to cry too early in the day BUT……. My sisters 4ever!” This reunion comes after an earlier gathering in October, where Beyoncé and Rowland appeared together at a rally for Vice President Kamala Harris in Houston.
Interestingly, it was reported that Williams had intended to join them at the rally but had to withdraw due to illness among her castmates. Earlier this year, the trio also celebrated at Rowland’s husband Tim Weatherspoon’s 50th birthday party in Los Angeles, an event that was highlighted by their shared performances of “Happy Birthday.”
Fans of Destiny’s Child have long awaited an official reunion, enjoying a taste of nostalgia during their surprise performance at Coachella in 2018 for the group’s 20th anniversary. Destiny’s Child, which debuted in 1997 and reached its final trio configuration in 2000, remains a cultural touchstone despite dissolving in 2006. With these recent gatherings, the anticipation for a new chapter together continues to grow.
