In a candid Instagram video shared over the weekend, Aoki revealed that constant criticism about her looks has taken a toll on her. “I think I’m probably wrapping up modeling soon,” she stated, expressing her love for the industry but lamenting the repetitive rejections she’s faced, where she has been told she isn’t “pretty enough” to succeed.
“It’s hard to keep going when you hear ‘no’ so many times,” Aoki said, reflecting on her frustrations with the modeling world. She emphasized the challenges that come with being compared to her iconic mother, a former supermodel known for her work with fashion giants like Chanel, Fendi, and Valentino. “It’s one big comparison all the time,” she admitted. A Harvard graduate with a degree in international relations, she is preparing to take a foreign service test as she seeks to make an impact in public service. “While I’m still here, I should do my best,” she remarked, following the advice from her mother to finish strong during this transitional phase.
