The British Fashion Council is set to honor Moncler’s CEO Remo Ruffini with the prestigious Trailblazer Award at The Fashion Awards 2024, scheduled for December 2 at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall. This accolade recognizes Ruffini’s transformative leadership and vision that have significantly impacted the fashion landscape.
Under Ruffini’s guidance, Moncler has evolved from its roots as a specialist in down jackets into a formidable luxury brand. Notably, he introduced the Moncler Genius platform, which has spearheaded a series of international collaborations that redefine boundaries in the fashion industry.
Ruffini took the helm of Moncler in 2003, embarking on a mission to rejuvenate the brand’s identity while honoring its heritage. His strategic approach—merging astute business insight with a dynamic creative vision—has propelled Moncler to remarkable heights, culminating in its listing on the Milan Stock Exchange in 2013. A landmark achievement for the brand occurred in 2021 when Ruffini orchestrated the acquisition of Stone Island, further solidifying Moncler’s position in the luxury sector.
In February 2018, Ruffini established the Moncler Genius initiative, a groundbreaking concept that revolutionized the brand’s connection with consumers and fellow creatives. This platform emphasized collaboration, featuring innovative partnerships with acclaimed designers such as Craig Green, Jonathan Anderson, and Richard Quinn. The initiative has reshaped the brand’s narrative, fostering engagement with diverse communities and infusing new energy into the luxury market.
In October 2024, Moncler showcased its ambitious “The City of Genius” event in Shanghai, created as a celebration of creativity and culture that coincided with Shanghai Fashion Week. This event highlighted an impressive lineup of talents, including Edward Enninful, A$AP Rocky, and others, reinforcing Moncler’s stature as a leader in dynamic collaborations.
Caroline Rush, the BFC’s chief executive, expressed her excitement about honoring Ruffini, stating, “His innovative approach has set a new standard for the luxury industry, and we look forward to celebrating his achievements at the awards.” The Trailblazer Award acknowledges individuals whose contributions have profoundly shaped the fashion sector over the past year.
Ruffini reflects on his journey, saying, “Creativity thrives at the intersection of dreams and energy. It is through this ethos that we continue to forge our creative vision at Moncler.” This award adds to Ruffini’s accolades, including the ‘Business Leader’ award received at The Fashion Awards in December 2019, further cementing his legacy in the fashion industry.
