Bethenny Frankel is not holding back when it comes to voicing her disdain for Bravo’s reboot of “Real Housewives of New York City.” In a recently deleted TikTok, the entrepreneur and reality TV veteran criticized the new iteration of the iconic series, labeling it a “piece of trash.”
Frankel expressed her frustration after witnessing numerous opinions claiming the reboot is nearly unwatchable. She called for justice for original cast members Sonja Morgan, Dorinda Medley, Luann de Lesseps, and Ramona Singer, referring to them as foundational figures who truly carried the show.
In her social media rant, Frankel lamented the abrupt replacement of these beloved stars with what she described as “shiny new toys.” The 54-year-old media personality revealed her insider knowledge about cast salaries and budgets, suggesting that the original stars were often treated as afterthoughts as the network shifted focus.
While Frankel acknowledged that the current cast, which includes Sai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, Erin Lichy, Jenna Lyons, Jessel Taank, Brynn Whitfield, and Racquel Chevremont, might be charming, she insisted that the legacy cast should not have been sidelined. She stated emphatically that these women, as they aged, were unceremoniously dropped from the show’s narrative, contributing to a significant drop in viewership for the reboot—citing a mere 200,000 viewers for the new season.
Her solution? Bravo should reintegrate the original stars into the mix, deeming it necessary for the network to serve “humble pie” to its audience and acknowledge the show’s roots. Frankel also referenced her earlier sentiments about the reboot and the proposed legacy show, which she found uninspiring from the onset.
After her initial TikTok made waves, Frankel posted another video saying she was “holding back” her true thoughts on the current season. In yet another deleted clip, she reiterated her call for justice for the original cast members, stressing that they deserved better than being left “for dead” in what she sees as a bid to modernize the show.
Frankel, a key player in launching “RHONY” back in 2008, has a rich history with the franchise, starring in its early seasons as well as rejoining for later ones before stepping away completely. Meanwhile, the ongoing fifteenth season of “RHONY” airs on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET, continuing to stir conversations around its place in the reality TV landscape.
