Sean “Diddy” Combs has reportedly been removed from suicide watch as he gears up for his impending sex trafficking trial.
“He is focused and very resilient,” a lawyer representing the troubled music mogul informed People on Sunday. “He is dedicated to his defense and fully preparing for the trial ahead.”
Sources also revealed that Combs has had visits with family at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, where he is currently held on charges including sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation for prostitution.
Page Six confirmed that Combs is now residing in a dormitory-style environment at the detention facility.
The music icon was originally placed on suicide watch after being denied bail following his arrest on September 16. At that time, insiders indicated that the precautionary measure was taken due to concerns about his mental state and shock at the circumstances he is facing.
The U.S. Department of Justice’s National Institute of Corrections describes suicide watch as “supervisory precautions for suicidal inmates that necessitate frequent observation.”
Combs, who is 54 years old, was taken into custody months after federal authorities executed raids at his residences in Miami and Los Angeles, reportedly discovering drugs along with over 1,000 bottles of lubricant according to an indictment.
The indictment characterized Combs as the head of a criminal enterprise whose affiliates allegedly participated in activities such as sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice.
The “I’ll Be Missing You” artist has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
In a recent documentary by TMZ titled “The Downfall of Diddy: The Indictment,” Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, mentioned that Combs, a father of seven, is “very eager to share his side of the story.” Agnifilo noted that Combs’ mindset is “remarkably positive” and that he has come to terms with his current situation.
Combs has been entangled in legal battles since his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura accused him of rape and various forms of sexual abuse, alleging that he coerced her into having sexual encounters with male sex workers in a lawsuit filed in November 2023.
The former couple settled the lawsuit just a day later, and Combs has consistently denied any wrongdoing. His attorney stated that Mr. Combs’ decision to resolve the lawsuit does not contradict his outright denial of the allegations, expressing that he is pleased with the mutual settlement and wishes Ventura well.
