The evening, however, took an unexpected turn when Fat Joe and DJ Khaled were discovered already in the restaurant. The two music moguls were at 388 Italian Restaurant celebrating the birthday of Fat Joe’s manager, Rich Player. With the MTV Video Music Awards set to take place in nearby Elmont, NY, the Long Island music scene was buzzing with energy.
The night took yet another surprising twist when LL Cool J made a dramatic entrance. As the newlyweds were preparing to leave, a Sprinter van arrived with the hip-hop legend. Despite the restaurant being closed, Sorrentino’s hospitality shone through. Without missing a beat, he swapped his custom tuxedo for his chef’s coat, reopened the kitchen, and prepared a meal for LL Cool J and his crew.
Brightopis revealed that the impromptu guest list of stars, including DJ Khaled, Fat Joe, and Rich Player, took time to congratulate the newlyweds and extend their best wishes for their future together. Sorrentino, who hails from a family of restaurateurs, had previously worked his way up from dishwasher to owning his own popular restaurant. His family has a notable history, having owned over ten restaurants.
Also present at the celebration were 388 Italian Restaurant partner Chris Tsarsi, along with Matthew Sorrentino and Joe Giovanni. Despite the restaurant’s closing hours, Sorrentino’s dedication to hospitality ensured that LL Cool J and his entourage enjoyed a memorable and special meal.
