Prince Harry was awarded the Pat Tillman Award for Service at the 2024 ESPY Awards on Thursday night, with his supportive wife, Meghan Markle, by his side.
The Duchess of Sussex, 42, dazzled in a white halter gown by Oscar de la Renta at the glamorous event held at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. Her ensemble drew comparisons to her wedding reception dress, designed by Stella McCartney, due to its elegant style.
Markle paired her gown with strappy black sandals from Celine and accessorized with diamond earrings, a Rodi Cassandra ring, her yellow gold Cartier Love bracelet, and her three-stone engagement ring. Her hair was styled in a sleek, center-parted bun.
Prince Harry, 39, opted for a classic black Giorgio Armani suit and tie for the evening.
The event, hosted by Markle’s close friend Serena Williams, saw Williams grace the red carpet in Armani Privé before taking the stage.
Harry was honored with the Pat Tillman Award for his work with the Invictus Games, which supports wounded, injured, and sick servicemen and women. The award, named after the late Arizona Cardinals player and Army soldier, has sparked some controversy. Pat Tillman’s mother, Mary, expressed her dismay at Harry receiving the accolade.
Despite this, ESPN defended their choice, stating, “While we understand not everyone will agree with all honorees selected for any award, The Invictus Games Foundation does incredible work, and ESPN believes this is a cause worth celebrating.”
The Duke of Sussex acknowledged Pat Tillman’s mother in his speech, emphasizing his respect for her.
The Sussexes have remained relatively low-profile since their recent trip to Nigeria, where Markle wore several summer outfits, including the “Windsor” dress by Heidi Merrick. Although there have been no new updates on Markle’s lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, her Netflix cooking show is reportedly finished filming.
Despite the controversy, this stylish couple continues to capture attention.
