Jamie Lee Curtis visibly emotional over Palisades Fire on ‘Fallon’
In a heartfelt appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” actress Jamie Lee Curtis struggled to contain her tears while reflecting on the devastating fires engulfing Pacific Palisades. As soon as she sat down for her interview, she admitted, “I was literally just about to cry.” The 66-year-old star expressed her anguish, stating, “As you know, where I live is on fire right now. Literally the entire city of the Pacific Palisades is burning.”
Curtis described the situation as “f–king gnarly” and labeled the destruction a “catastrophe.” Having flown to New York City just before the interview, she shared the distressing news she received during her flight. “This is literally where I live. Everything. The market I shop in, the schools my kids go to … many, many, many friends have lost their homes,” she lamented. “It’s a really awful situation. I’m also gonna go home first thing tomorrow and be with my family and try to help my friends.”
The “Freaky Friday” actress resides in Los Angeles with her husband, Christopher Guest, and their two children. Before going on the show, Curtis addressed the crisis on Instagram, sharing that her home was “possibly” threatened by the fire but reassured followers that her family was safe. She expressed gratitude for the firefighters and all those helping evacuate affected residents.
During her talk show appearance, Curtis highlighted the emotional toll of the wildfires, specifically mentioning a church in the area that had been reduced to ashes. She expressed her appreciation for Fallon’s kindness during her tough time, stating, “The hug he gave me in support of my fragile feelings will always be remembered.”
Curtis acknowledged the difficulty of engaging in light-hearted banter amid such widespread tragedy. California is currently experiencing a state of emergency due to the fires, which have resulted in at least five fatalities. Many celebrities, including Leighton Meester and Spencer Pratt, have lost their homes, while others like Chrissy Teigen and Whitney Cummings have shared their emotional evacuation experiences.
As Curtis prepares to return to Los Angeles to support her community, she remains hopeful for recovery and rebuilding efforts.
