Katie Maloney has revealed that she made the choice to leave “Vanderpump Rules” several months prior to the announcement of the show’s reboot, which will feature an entirely new cast. Speaking on the latest episode of her podcast “Disrespectfully” alongside co-host Dayna Kathan, Maloney shared her decision to step away from the long-running Bravo reality show.
During the conversation, Maloney noted, “I didn’t plan on returning,” emphasizing that her decision came well before any discussions of putting the series on pause or casting changes were made. Kathan confirmed that Maloney reached this conclusion after the Season 11 reunion episode, which aired in May.
Maloney, who has been a staple on the show since its inception in January 2013, expressed that she felt it was time to move on as her life was taking a different path. She explained, “Mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually, I was prepared,” and acknowledged that the show had encompassed significant portions of her life, including her marriage and divorce.
Reflecting on her time on “Vanderpump Rules,” she shared that the experience had allowed her to live many different lives. However, she voiced her concerns about whether she could continue to grow and evolve as the person she wanted to be while remaining part of the show. She also acknowledged the difficulties within the original cast dynamics, especially following the fallout from Scandoval, which had irreparably fractured their relationships.
Despite her readiness for this change, Maloney admitted that the finality of her departure feels surreal and evokes mixed emotions of sadness and weirdness. Nevertheless, she had anticipated the news of the show’s overhaul and has distanced herself from rumors suggesting that former cast members were demanding excessive payments, clarifying that discussions about contracts had not even begun at that time.
This marks a significant chapter for both Maloney and “Vanderpump Rules,” as she steps away from a series that has been central to her life for over a decade.
