Candace Cameron Bure recently opened up about what she deems the perfect date night with her husband, Valeri Bure, and it includes some candid details that just might raise eyebrows among their children. During a playful segment of the Not-So-Newlywed Game featured in Us Weekly, the former “Full House” star joked, “The kids are going to get mad at me,” right before outlining her ideal evening. Her list? A great restaurant, delicious wine, a leisurely walk, and, yes, sex.
Valeri, who has shared marital bliss with Candace since 1996, chimed in with a more reserved version of romance, stating his preference for a “walk and dinner with nice wine.” After her confession, Candace found herself playfully reprimanded by Valeri. “Who does this?” he quipped, adding, “This is why — you cannot say that!”
Candace, 48, couldn’t help but laugh, admitting, “This is why I annoy my children!” She even pressed Valeri for the reasoning behind the taboo topic.
As they reminisced during the segment, the couple reflected on their early romance that began in 1994. Their inaugural date took place at the Broadway Deli in Santa Monica, California, where Candace admitted she felt a bit intimidated and called on her friend Lori Loughlin to join them. “I was too scared to go by myself, so I called Lori,” she said, fondly recalling that first lunch which also included Valeri’s brother.
Valeri, a former professional hockey player, has expressed a desire to move quickly in relationships, sharing that he always wanted to start a family. “I always kind of wanted to move fast with everything that we did. I always wanted a family,” he recounted, explaining that their courtship involved several months of phone conversations before they met again in person.
Since tying the knot in 1996, the couple has been blessed with three children: Natasha, 26, Lev, 24, and Maksim, 22. Reflecting on their journey, Valeri shared the special feelings he had early on in their relationship, noting, “I remember I had that special feeling in my heart that I do want to say that I love you. And I did.”
