Harrison Ford Transforms in New Captain America: Brave New World Trailer
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been in a bit of a holding pattern recently. Once a titan of the box office that thrilled comic book enthusiasts and ruffled the feathers of film purists, the franchise began to show signs of struggle in 2021 with the lukewarm reception of “Eternals.” The situation worsened a year later with the underwhelming “The Marvels.” Following Jonathan Majors’ conviction for assault and harassment, Marvel Studios had to recalibrate its future path.
This past summer, they struck gold with “Deadpool & Wolverine,” a property now under the umbrella of 20th Century Studios. While it didn’t significantly advance the overarching storyline, it raked in a massive box office and bought Marvel some much-needed breathing room as they prepare to embark on a new journey post-Majors with “Captain America: Brave New World.”
A fresh trailer has hit the internet, showcasing its intent to embrace the political thriller vibe reminiscent of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” In this installment, Sam Wilson finds himself clashing with President Thaddeus Ross, portrayed by Harrison Ford, who steps into the role previously held by the late William Hurt. But Ross isn’t simply a disgruntled commander-in-chief; he adopts the persona of a Hulk, bringing Lord of the Skies Ford’s signature grumpiness to the fore. This is bound to create some tension.
Directed by Julius Onah, known for “The Cloverfield Paradox,” and penned by the talented duo of Malcolm Spellman and Daylan Musson—with additional writing by Matthew Orton—this film holds significant weight as it transitions Anthony Mackie’s Falcon into the iconic role of Captain America, following the events of the Disney+ series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.” Mackie is set to shine, as he possesses a charisma that makes him compelling in the role.
Scheduled for release on February 14, 2025, the film is anticipated to set the stage for upcoming projects like “Thunderbolts” and “The Fantastic Four: First Steps.” Will it have the momentum needed to propel the MCU forward? The new trailer is out now—take a look and share your thoughts!
