Sabrina Carpenter certainly demonstrated her impeccable taste.
At the 2024 VMAs, Sabrina Carpenter graced the red carpet in a dazzling white sequined gown that echoed the glamour of a bygone era. The gown, originally worn by Madonna, was a vintage Bob Mackie creation first debuted by the pop icon during her 1991 Oscars performance.
According to Brightopis.com , Madonna’s memorable look was complemented by a white fur wrap, and she made a striking impression attending the Oscars with Michael Jackson. The gown later found its way to Tab Vintage, which showcased it on Instagram in August, inviting followers to imagine who might wear it next.
Sabrina Carpenter’s stylist, Jared Ellner, worked closely with Tab Vintage to select the gown. Alexis Novak, owner of Tab Vintage, shared with Vogue that the team was thrilled with Carpenter’s choice after sending over a selection of similar pieces.
For the VMAs, Carpenter opted not to add the fur stole, but she did channel Madonna’s iconic style with her blond hair styled in bouncy curls, and she kept her signature babydoll makeup, including red lipstick. She completed her look with exquisite jewelry from De Beers, featuring a 23.95-carat diamond necklace, 2.75-carat diamond earrings, and a 3.35-carat emerald-cut diamond ring.
While Sabrina attended the event solo, she is slated to perform tracks from her recent album, “Short ‘n Sweet.” This year’s VMAs mark a significant moment for Carpenter, who is nominated in seven categories, including Artist of the Year and Song of the Year. She will be competing against notable names like Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande.
Despite not being her first VMAs appearance, this one is particularly notable for the five-foot star. Carpenter will perform at Long Island’s UBS Arena alongside Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello, with whom she was rumored to have been involved in a love triangle.
Fans speculate that several tracks on her album are inspired by Mendes and his relationship with Cabello. Although Carpenter and Mendes were first linked in early 2023, Mendes has maintained they were “not dating,” despite later being seen with Cabello at Coachella, an event Carpenter seemingly references in her song “Coincidence.”
Not all of Carpenter’s album tracks focus on Mendes; her current flame, Barry Keoghan, features prominently in her music video for “Please Please Please.” The song includes lyrics about the “actor” and a “devil inside,” while another track, “Bed Chem,” is a love song where Carpenter reflects on meeting a “cute guy with the white jacket and the thick accent.”
Stay tuned to see what’s next for Sabrina Carpenter as she continues to captivate with her performances and personal style.
