Patrick Mahomes has chosen not to publicly disclose his political views, contrasting with his friend Taylor Swift’s recent endorsement.
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback addressed the topic during a press conference after Republican nominee Donald Trump praised his wife, Brittany Mahomes, for her supposed support in the upcoming election.
“I’ve always said, I don’t want my place and my platform to be used to endorse a candidate or take any political stance,” Patrick, 28, told reporters on Wednesday.
According to Brightopis.com , Mahomes elaborated that his focus is on encouraging people to register to vote and conduct their own research before making informed decisions. “I think my place is to inform people to get registered to vote,” he said. “It’s to inform people to do their own research and then make the best decision for them and their family.”
Regarding Trump’s comments about Brittany, Patrick emphasized that his priority is the well-being of his family and their treatment of others. He added that political views are not a consideration when he’s spending time with friends.
Patrick’s comments followed Taylor Swift’s public endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris just before the press conference. Swift had announced her support for Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election on Instagram.
On the same day, Trump, 78, criticized Swift on “Fox & Friends” and praised Brittany Mahomes, saying, “I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better, if you want to know the truth. She’s a big Trump fan. I like Brittany. I think Brittany is great.”
Brittany Mahomes had previously responded to online critics by sharing a quote on Instagram that addressed negativity. Meanwhile, Swift urged her followers to research both candidates and make their own choices, stating, “I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make.”
