Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney Are Embracing Their ‘Scary, But Exciting’ Next Chapter at Something About Her

Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney have officially turned the page to a bold new chapter in their lives with the launch of their sandwich shop, Something About Her, as of Wednesday. After enduring a lengthy period of challenges, including bureaucratic hurdles in West Hollywood, the two ‘Vanderpump Rules’ stars finally saw their vision come to life.

In an exclusive chat with Entertainment Tonight, Katie expressed a mix of relief and surrealism now that they can finally open the doors to their restaurant, which has been ready for nearly a year. According to her, the entire concept—from the music to the décor to the carefully curated menu—was meticulously planned.

Ariana chimed in, excited for patrons to savor delicious sandwiches and perhaps a glass of wine, setting the stage for an uplifting dining experience. The duo is pushing for an atmosphere that invites customers to embrace their “delusional main character energy,” a philosophy reflected in their Instagram-ready space. The menu boasts a selection of unique sandwiches and beverage options from brands such as Avaline and Loverboy.

They sought out production designer Jon Hutman, known for his work on Nancy Meyers’ beloved films, to create an ambiance that feels both cozy and chic. The design cues are drawn from various cinematic inspirations, including the rom-com “It’s Complicated,” directed by Meyers, which features elements reminiscent of a sandwich shop.

Recently, Katie and Ariana hosted a soft opening for family and friends, attended by familiar faces from their past, including Andy Cohen and fellow ‘Vanderpump Rules’ alums Kristen Doute and Stassi Schroeder, who were all eager to dive into the culinary offerings. However, the absence of some current cast members, notably Lala Kent and Scheana Shay, was noticeable, hinting at some distance in their relationships following a tumultuous season.

The opening of Something About Her comes at a pivotal time for ‘Vanderpump Rules’ as the Bravo series wraps up its 11th season amidst speculation about the future of the cast. In this uncertain landscape, Katie and Ariana are stepping into an exciting period, liberated from the constraints of reality TV.

Katie shared her thoughts on the uncertainties ahead while maintaining an optimistic outlook. Both she and Ariana echoed similar sentiments about navigating the newness of restaurant ownership, highlighting the thrill and challenges that accompany such an endeavor.

Meanwhile, as Ariana prepares to take on the role of host for “Love Island” in Fiji and return to Broadway in “Chicago,” Katie will manage day-to-day operations at Something About Her. They are committed to keeping the lines of communication open and ensuring their friendship remains intact while they dive into this entrepreneurial venture.

With the grand opening at 640 N. Robertson Boulevard in West Hollywood, Something About Her is set to provide a unique dining experience. Fans of the show can look forward to the final reunion episode airing soon, concluding a season filled with twists and turns. While questions loom over the future of the reality series, the focus for Katie and Ariana is firmly fixed on their burgeoning restaurant business.
