Zendaya’s 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Dress Pays Tribute to Cher
In a stunning moment at the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony, Zendaya honored the legendary Cher, who was inducted after 60 illustrious years in the entertainment industry. This monumental event took place on October 19 in Cleveland, Ohio, the home of the Hall of Fame, and Zendaya was chosen to present an award to the music icon.
The 28-year-old actress and fashion icon arrived at the ceremony wearing a spectacular vintage Bob Mackie gown, designed to mirror Cher’s iconic style. The gown featured striking cutouts and eye-catching sparkly accents, perfectly complementing Cher’s legendary status. Zendaya posed for photographers in this archival design, which is part of Bob Mackie’s Fall 2001 Couture collection.
Over the years, Bob Mackie has designed some of the most iconic outfits for Cher, including the unforgettable feathery illusion dress she wore to the 1974 Met Gala. While Zendaya’s gown was not a look worn by Cher herself, it echoed the essence of the singer’s glamorous fashion history with its criss-cross neckline, cascading cutouts, and a reflective low-waisted skirt that boasted a thigh-high slit.
To complete her look, Zendaya chose metallic “So Kate” pumps by Christian Louboutin and adorned herself with an array of Bulgari jewelry, fitting for the brand’s global ambassador. Among her sparkling accessories were stacked ribbed bracelets, classic stud earrings, and the lavish 9-carat “Serpenti Snake Ring,” valued at over $18,000.
Interestingly, while the gown Zendaya wore was not one of Cher’s own, it did draw inspiration from a Mackie design worn by the pop icon in 1972, following the debut of “The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour.” In that look, Cher sported a rhinestone-covered bodice and an elongated mermaid-shaped skirt, akin to what Zendaya wore that night.
