La La Anthony knows a thing or two about style, and she credits her 18-year-old son, Kiyan, for keeping her wardrobe fresh. In an exclusive chat with ET, just ahead of her role as host for the 14th Rookie Kids Fashion Show presented by Haddad Brands on September 26 in Los Angeles, La La revealed how their shared passion for fashion strengthens their bond. Kiyan, the son she shares with former NBA star Carmelo Anthony, hit the runway at the event back in 2015, and ever since, the two have been trading fashion advice.
La La, now 42, explained, “Our connection over fashion just keeps growing. He always updates me on what’s current and stylish. My best tip for him is to stay true to himself. It’s perfectly fine to follow trends, but make sure you genuinely like what you’re wearing. When you appreciate your outfit, it boosts your confidence.”
Over the years, this philosophy has guided La La’s own fashion choices. “I believe my style has adapted as trends have evolved. I don’t have too many regrets, but I sometimes look back at old photos and think, ‘What was I thinking?’ That’s just how style transforms over time,” she shared with a laugh.
These days, La La is leaning into cozy yet stylish ensembles. As she gears up for the fall, her favorite outfit consists of “a cool pair of sneakers and I’m thrilled about denim-on-denim. It’s a classic look that can be dressed up or down.”
While she aims to feel sexy, La La identifies as a tomboy at heart. “Comfort is key for me,” she said, emphasizing her laid-back approach to fashion.
As she navigates her career and personal life, her sense of style remains a vital part of who she is.
