In an exclusive chat with ET, the actress and television personality discussed her excitement about hosting the 14th Rookie Kids Fashion Show in partnership with Haddad Brands on September 26 in Los Angeles. La La’s son, Kiyan, 18, the child of her former marriage to NBA star Carmelo Anthony, made his mark on the runway back in 2015, setting the stage for a fashion dialogue that the duo has maintained ever since.
La La emphasized how they bond over fashion, revealing, “He keeps me updated on what’s hot and stylish.” Drawing from her experiences as a mother, she advises Kiyan to embrace his individuality. “It’s perfectly fine to follow trends, but the key is to wear what you truly love. Reflecting on her own journey with fashion, La La notes, “My style has certainly progressed over the years. I seldom look back with regret, although occasionally I do experience a ‘What was I thinking?’ moment when I see old photos, as fashion has a way of evolving.”

Her favorite fall ensemble combines stylish sneakers and a classic denim-on-denim look, which she deems a timeless choice that can easily be dressed up or down. “I love to channel a sexy vibe, but at my core, I’m a tomboy who prioritizes comfort,” she shared, highlighting her personal style philosophy.
