In the world of fashion, talent often runs deep in the family. La La Anthony recently chatted with ET as she prepared to host the upcoming 14th Rookie Kids Fashion Show in Los Angeles, a collaborative event with Haddad Brands set for September 26. During the interview, she opened up about the valuable influence her son, Kiyan, has on her fashion sense. At just 18 years old, Kiyan, whom La La shares with her ex-husband Carmelo Anthony, first graced the runway at the same event back in 2015, and since then, the pair have been swapping style advice.
La La reflected on their bond, saying, “We have continued bonding over fashion. He keeps me in the loop about what’s trending and stylish.” The 42-year-old television personality also shared the key style advice she imparts to her son: to always embrace authenticity. “It’s fine to follow trends,” she advised, “but make sure you genuinely love what you’re wearing. When you love your outfit, you feel good.”
Anthony has consistently embraced this philosophy throughout her fashion journey. She noted, “I think my style has evolved with the times and trends. I don’t have many regrets, but I occasionally look back at photos from a decade ago and think, ‘What was I wearing?’ Style naturally transitions over time.”
Currently, La La is leaning towards cozy ensembles peppered with an edgy twist. As for her fall favorites, she expressed, “I adore a killer sneaker and am always excited about denim-on-denim. It’s a classic trend that you can dress up or down effortlessly.”
While she appreciates looking sexy, she admits, “At the core, I’m really a tomboy. Comfort is key for me.”
